I am a reasonably new pensioner and have been Nordic Walking for almost 2 years. It took me a few weeks of total concentration to master the technique under Sandrine’s watchful guidance, but now I thoroughly enjoy the exercise and good company and am amazed at the speed at which I wear through the feet on my poles – good proof that I use them often!
As I was already a frequent walker/tramper, I have been interested to note the added health benefits that I have gained from Nordic Walking. These include no longer having tension headaches generating from my neck area, a much more upright stance compared to many of my peers, a longer stride and increased fitness – resulting in little or no muscle pain after a good tramp. The only downside is that there are so many others who would also benefit from this exercise – if only they would get out there and give it a go.
